Uintah, Duchesne counties moved to 'High' on transmission index; masks required in 23 counties

Uintah and Duchesne counties are now among the counties in Utah's "High" COVID-19 transmission index, bringing the state's total number of counties where masks are required in public to 23.

In addition to the mask requirement, gatherings are limited to 10 people or fewer for Duchesne, Uintah and the 21 other counties that were already listed as "High" on the transmission index.

The use of masks and the adherence to social distancing is strongly encouraged at all three levels outlined in the state's health guidance index.

The Utah Department of Health's COVID-19 report for Thursday shows an increase of 1,837 confirmed cases—bringing the state's total to 110,640—and ten additional deaths.

So far 1,063,291 people in Utah have been tested for COVID-19. The state's rolling seven-day average for the positive tests is 1,578 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for the percent of positive tests is 18.1.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 5,391 people in Utah have required hospitalization for COVID-19. Of those, 316 remain hospitalized.

598 people in Utah have died of COVID-19. The ten deaths announced Thursday are:

  • Female, between 65-84, Beaver County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 65-84, Emery County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 65-84, Juab County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, between 65-84, Piute County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 25-44, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • Female, older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • Male, older than 85, Washington County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
