MURRAY, Utah — Utah's Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control has closed its liquor store near 5400 South and State Street after an employee reported testing positive for COVID-19.

DABC spokesman Terry Wood said the employee reported the positive test result over the weekend.

"It was not a customer coming in. It wasn’t another employee," he said of the contact tracing.

But all other DABC employees in the store are now self-isolating and will be tested as well. The store will remain closed until it can be sanitized and appropriate staffing can happen, Wood said.

It is the second liquor store to close since the COVID-19 outbreak began. Moab's liquor store was recently shuttered after an employee there tested positive for novel coronavirus. The DABC said all other employees have tested negative for the virus and the store has been sanitized. That store is expected to open on Wednesday.
