Utah reports under 2,000 new COVID-19 cases Monday; 5 new deaths

SALT LAKE CITY — After a weekend in which Saturday's cases were inflated due to technical issues, the Utah Department of Health reported 1,971 news cases of COVID-19 Monday, and five new deaths.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 2,949 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 24.6 percent.

There are 504 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Utah.

With the following additional deaths, Utah's death toll has now reached 723:

  • Male, between 65-84, Box Elder County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, older than 85, Washington County resident, hospitalized at time of death
