GREEN RIVER, Utah — A man feeding a 9-month-old baby in the backseat of a car was able to fight off a suspect who attempted to carjack the duo in Green River Sunday.
The Emery County Sheriff's Office says DeAngelo Low Williams, 30, got into the front seat of a vehicle in an attempt to steal it from a gas station. Williams was startled when he saw the man and infant in the backseat.
Upon seeing the two in the car, Williams allegedly pointed a gun at the man and hit him in the face with the weapon. The victim was able to get into the front seat of the vehicle and drive away and find a police officer.
Witnesses led authorities to Williams who continued running even when a deputy told him to stop and drop his gun. Eventually, Williams dropped the weapon on the ground and was taken into custody.
A check found that Williams' gun was listed as stolen in Warren, Michigan.
Williams was arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, child kidnapping, aggravated kidnapping, obstruction of justice and possession of a dangerous weapon.
