A baby was found alone at a Bronx subway station early Sunday morning, police said.

With the wind chill, it felt like it was below freezing when the 1-year-old boy was found at the above-ground Burnside Avenue No. 4 train station. He was left there sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., officials said.

A 31-year-old man found the baby boy and brought him to the local police precinct around 3:40 a.m., an NYPD spokesperson said.

The boy's 25-year-old father was arrested just before 7 a.m. at the 125th Street subway station in Manhattan.

Police charged Dondre Hunter with abandonment of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The baby was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation.

Hunter had taken the baby to a birthday party, according to the baby's mother.

"I waited up all night for them," the mother said.

She got a call from a family member about what had happened just before 8 a.m. and rushed to a local police station and then to the hospital.

The mother wants to meet the man who took her son to an NYPD precinct.

"If it wasn't for him, my son probably wouldn't have gotten back," she said.
