HOLLADAY, Utah — A home is considered a nearly complete loss after a fire Sunday afternoon in Holladay.
According to Unified Fire officials, when crews first arrived at the home located in the 2800 Block of East Blue Spruce Drive, they saw flames and smoke coming out of the house, which is set back from the road and made it difficult to access.
After getting inside the home, firefighters were unable to determine the base of the fire as it continued to grow, causing crews to leave the house and begin a defensive attack.
The one homeowner inside the home was able to make it safe outside the house.
Just after 7:30 p.m., Unified Fire said they were able to bring in a ladder truck to get above the home's roof line and extinguished the fire. It's not yet known what started the fire Sunday afternoon.
Although no other structures are in danger, firefighters were concerned about nearby trees catching fire.
