SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Workforce Services (DWS) announced that they will be hosting a virtual job fair on Tuesday, June 30th. The event will be completely online and free for anybody looking for work.

As the state seeks to recover from the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, many Utahns are still in need of a new job, whether they have been temporarily furloughed, or permanently laid off.

Over 80 employers will be taking part in this online job fair with more than 1000 jobs available in industries such as retail, healthcare, manufacturing, and even the tech sector. Prospective applicants can take part using their own computer or smartphone.

After logging in, job seekers will see a digital floor plan with rows of booths, each representing a real-world employer. Upon clicking on a booth, they’ll be able to view that employer’s company profile, job openings, and social media accounts.

They will also be able to start a live chat with a hiring representative and share their resume. Employers, meanwhile, can schedule interviews or even make job offers on the spot.

The timing of this job fair could be vital to many Utahns that currently rely on the state’s unemployment benefits. The additional $600 federal benefit is set to expire on July 25th.

The statewide job fair will take place Tuesday, June 30th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. To participate, job seekers will need to pre-register at jobs.utah.gov. The DWS will also be offering an online workshop the previous day so those seeking employment can get the most out of this event.
