SALT LAKE CITY — Police have confirmed that they believe to have found the body of the man who may be involved in the murder of his wife in Huntsville.

Nearly 48 hours after the search began, Scott Russell's vehicle was found by Highway 39 near Pineview Reservoir with his body inside, officials confirm.

Someone who was walking along the shoreline of Pineview Reservoir noticed the vehicle around 6 p.m. Thursday evening and notified officials.

Officials have been looking for Russell since late Tuesday night when they discovered his wife had been shot multiple times in their home.

According to a probable cause statement, Russell’s son called Weber County dispatch just after 9 p.m. Tuesday and told them that Russell had shot his wife.

The son said he was on the phone with Russell when he heard a gun cocking and what he thought was the slam of a door. When Russell came back to the phone, he said he had shot his wife.

Russell said he wanted to travel to visit his son because “he would be going to prison." Russell then told his son he loved him, and ended the phone call by telling his son “I’ll see you in hell.” He left his home in the black SUV shortly before the call was placed to Weber County dispatch.

It was initially thought Russell would be heading to Colorado but law enforcement were not able to contact him prior to finding his vehicle.
