IRS launches 'Get My Payment' stimulus tracker, but many are experiencing issues

SALT LAKE CITY — The Internal Revenue Service on Wednesday launched an online service to help Americans track their coronavirus stimulus checks. However, many users reported long waits and errors.

“Due to high demand, you may have to wait longer than usual to access this site. We appreciate your patience,” a message on the IRS “Get My Payment” web site read.

Other users encountered messages reading, “Please try again later” due to errors involving their tax return information, or a maximum number of attempts to access the online tool.

In order to track your payment status, you will need:

  • Your social security number
  • Your 2019 tax return, if filed, and
  • Your 2019 tax return, if filed, and
  • Bank account information
