Man hospitalized after late-night auto-pedestrian accident in South Jordan

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — A man is recovering in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle late Friday night.

According to Sargent Sam Winkler with South Jordan Police, a vehicle driving eastbound had a green light at the intersection of Grandville Avenue and Daybreak Parkway.

A pedestrian in dark clothing ran out against the light, and was struck in the intersection.

The 40-year-old victim was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in extremely critical condition, but was stabilized when he arrived, and is now listed as having non-life threatening injuries.

The 17-year-old driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.

The driver showed no signs of impairment, and witnesses on scene stated the pedestrian crossed against the light.

Authorities were unable to determine if the pedestrian was impaired on scene due to the extent of his injuries.

The accident is still under investigation.
