SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah — A Millcreek woman who police say drove her minivan into a pond is now facing criminal charges, including child abuse homicide.

Brittanie Mae Miloshevsky, 28, was formally charged on Monday with child abuse, child endangerment, criminal mischief, DUI, and child abuse homicide.

As FOX 13 previously reported, Miloshevsky drove her vehicle into a pond at the “Golf in the Round” golf course with her 18-month-old son strapped into a car seat.

According to the probable cause statement obtained by FOX 13, South Salt Lake police originally responded to a report of vandalism at the golf course, located at 600 West 3300 South at around 11:30 PM on Sunday, June 7th.

Upon arrival, officers found Miloshevsky lying on the ground near a fence on the golf course, completely soaked in water and trying to sleep. She told officers that she had arrived by car, leading officers to locate the vehicle in the golf course’s pond.

As they checked the vehicle, officers found her 18-month-old son inside, still strapped into the car seat. After multiple diving attempts, officers were able to retrieve the child and rush him to Primary Children’s Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died.

After being taken into custody, Miloshevsky admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. She also admitted to knowing that the child was in the vehicle while she was driving prior to the crash.

Miloshevsky is currently awaiting trial at the Salt Lake County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
