UTAH COUNTY — Authorities are investigating after a Lehi man was found dead with his motorcycle about a half-mile away in a remote area of Utah County.

Benjamin David Jansen, 50, was found lying face down in the middle of a road near a landfill in Fairfield Saturday night by a father and son driving a side-by-side, according to the Utah County Sheriff's Office, whose deputies confirmed he was dead upon their arrival.

Jansen was wearing full motorcycle riding gear, and his wife told Lehi Police he had left Saturday morning to go ride in the area where he was eventually found. He had planned to return around noon, and she called police after he didn't return and she could not get in touch with him.

But officials say he did not have any obvious injuries, and his bike was discovered about half a mile south from where he was found — leaning to the side with no apparent damage from a crash.

The state medical examiner's office will conduct an exam to determine the cause of his death.
