BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — Authorities are responding to a new fire in Box Elder County.
The "Messix Fire" was estimated at 988 acres as of Sunday night. The fire is reportedly threatening structures in the old town of Promontory.
Structures nearby include some ranch homes, with livestock also roaming on hillsides nearby.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
