MIDVALE, Utah — The campaign office for 4th District Congressional candidate Burgess Owens was hit by a pickup truck Saturday night in Midvale.

"Thankfully everyone is safe after a runaway truck drove into our headquarters," Owens tweeted at 11:45 p.m. "We're not slowing down! Still knocking doors, making calls and working nonstop!"

Jesse Ranney, Owens' communications director, told The Salt Lake Tribune that fortunately, nobody was there at the time. Nearly everything inside the building was destroyed, and the campaign plans to look for a new building Monday.

Ranney added that police indicated it was more likely an accident possibly involving drunk driving rather than an intentional, targeted attack.

Owens, a Republican, is running against current Democratic Rep. Ben McAdams in the 2020 general election.
