ERDA, Utah — Utah Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian incident in Tooele County.
Just before 6:30 a.m. Thursday, a pedestrian was struck and killed on southbound state Route 36 and Cimmarron Way in Erda.
The man was killed and investigators suspect the driver was impaired.
In a tweet, the UHP called it a “gut wrenching and heartbreaking event for family and friends of the victim…and a really tough one for those first responders on scene.”
The tweet ended with "IF YOU DRINK, DON'T DRIVE" in all caps.
The far southbound lane of SR-36 will be closed until the scene is cleared and the investigation complete.
