SALT LAKE COUNTY -- A man faces multiple charges after police say he stole a vehicle, set a fire, shot at civilians and fled law enforcement on a dramatic chase through multiple counties in Utah Saturday

According to a probable cause statement filed in 3rd District Court, the incident began Saturday in Utah County, after a man reportedly shot at an ambulance on I-15.

The suspect fled the scene, and troopers terminated their pursuit due to safety concerns. Later in Morgan County, police say they were called and informed that a grass fire was started in East Canyon Resort, and a suspect was firing a gun.

Police later found out that the suspect in Morgan County, identified as E'an Pernell Hendrix, was the same person who shot at the ambulance. The statement says in Morgan County, Hendrix stole a side-by-side recreational vehicle, then rolled it shortly after.

"After crashing the stolen side by side, witnesses stated he lite of roman candles or flares that started the fire," police wrote.

After starting the fire, the statement said Hendrix tried to flee and threatened civilians with a firearm when they attempted to keep him from leaving the scene. After shooting multiple shots, police say Hendrix fled the area. He was eventually located by Salt Lake County troopers under a bridge near 900 S. and I-15. Police say at the time he was found, Hendrix had a gun and marijuana in his possession.

Hendrix was charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors, including two counts of aggravated assault, one count of arson, and threat of violence.
