ROY, Utah — Roy City Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Wednesday morning.

They were dispatched to a report of a gunshot near Roy High School around 4:40 a.m. at an apartment complex at 1958 West 4700 South.

“We just got a call that there was pounding on the door and then apparently the door was possibly forced open and the gunshots followed," said Roy Police PIO Stuart Hackworth.

Officers located a male that had been shot in the abdomen in his apartment. The victim is undergoing emergency surgery, but his wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police are looking for other people who left the apartment before officers arrived.

“At least three suspects that arrived possibly in two separate vehicles, one possibly a silver SUV the other a sedan," Officer Hackworth said. "The victim has not been able to provide a lot of information about what took place.”

Police do not believe there is any immediate danger to the public.
