UTAH — Multiple police agencies across Utah are attempting to quell a rumor that protesters are planning to go door-to-door from Provo to Logan and shoot residents "to prove black lives matter."

"We have spoken to Utah Department of Public Safety, Statewide Intelligence and Analysis Center about this post. They have not heard any credible information that supports its validity," the Logan City Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.

Authorities will continue to look into it, but they believe it comes from threats in other parts of the country of people "taking what is ours," the department's post said.

The Cache County Sheriff's Office, Orem Police Department and others have released statements also saying that the rumors are unsubstatiated.

"Be vigilant neighbors and pay attention to who is in your communities," Orem Police added. "Do not call just to ask about the post. If we get word of actual terroristic attacks, we will make it known to you."
