SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City firefighters responded to a house fire in Salt Lake City's Avenues Tuesday morning.

The fire at 273 N Street started outside and moved up into the attic, according to Salt Lake Fire Captain Tony Stowe.

His crew is located at nearby Station No. 4 and arrived within minutes at the scene.

They found a working fire and called in a second alarm due to the closeness of homes in the area.

The older home is constructed with lath and plaster as opposed to drywall and that poses challenges for firefighters.

The fire can quickly move through an old home like that.

Crews did knock it down quickly, and kept it from spreading throughout the house and to nearby homes.

The resident of the home had gotten out by the time crews arrived and there were no injuries.

Damage estimates and the cause of the fire are still unknown.
