SALT LAKE CITY — If we could only get those pesky folks from Augusta, Georgia out of the way, Salt Lake City would be the most neighborly city in America.

(Wait, that doesn't sound too "neighborly," does it?)

As it is, we will have to settle for second place, but we try harder!

Salt Lake City claimed the second spot in the Neighbors.com rankings of the country's most neighborly cities due mainly to how much residents give. Nearly 84 percent of those who live in Salt Lake City gave to charity with an average donation of $9,274.

On top of donating money, residents also donate their time more than in most cities. According to the study, those who live in Salt Lake City give 36 percent of their time to volunteering.

Another factor included in the rankings was community well-being, meaning residents feel "safe, happy, and proud of their home communities."
