SALT LAKE COUNTY -- Beginning Friday night, customers can now walk inside Salt Lake County restaurants to order takeout.
“It’s nice because we honestly miss… the interaction. It makes a world of a difference,” said Trolley Wing Co. Owner Jeff Krie.
The move, announced Friday by Mayor Jenny Wilson, comes a month after strict public health orders prohibited sit-down dining in restaurants to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Many restaurants lucky enough to have drive-up and takeout options are still barely holding on.
“It’s definitely hurting. We aren’t making any money,” said Krie.
To help the business during the pandemic, Krie has expanded take-out orders to include beer and developed online ordering.
Krie says about 50 percent of employees can’t work right now. He hopes to bring them all back when customers can come in, sit down and eat again.
"We all just keep our cool for a few more weeks, I’m optimistic about it all,” said Krie.
