SANDY, Utah — Sandy police are asking for help tracking down a trio of suspected car burglars accused of ransacking nearly 20 vehicles early Monday morning.

The burglaries occurred between 1 and 3 a.m. Monday on a couple of streets in the area of 9400 S and 1500 E.

Police said the 19 burglaries were quick crimes of opportunity and the suspects likely didn’t spend much time going through each of the victims’ vehicles.

Someone with a security camera managed to capture a face shot image of one of the suspects and the clothing of another.

Sandy police began getting reports Monday as folks were waking up and learning that they have been victimized.

“That’s exactly what these guys were doing, they were looking for a property left in vehicles, they were looking for unlocked doors, just looking for that opportunity to take something that doesn’t belong to them and make a profit off of it or whatever they’re doing with that property,” said Sgt. Clay Swensen, Sandy PD.

Police are reminding residents not to leave valuable items in their vehicles and to keep their vehicles locked.

Anyone with information that may help Sandy Police identify the burglars is asked to call 801-568-7200.
