SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police are looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian and fled the scene late Tuesday night.
It happened around 11 p.m. near 800 S State St. Emergency crews performed CPR to stabilize the victim before transporting him to University of Utah Hospital.
Witnesses told police the vehicle that struck the man appeared was black, possibly a Dodge Challenger or Charger, and the car probably has significant front-end damage.
"There's a light, but it's still dark enough that people may have the [vehicle's description] off a little bit, and, if it had damage, couldn't see the damage, that kind of thing," said Lt. Dave Cracroft, SLCPD. "We're still working."
Police will check with nearby businesses to see if any security camera video is available to help them with the investigation.
Anyone with information that may help with the investigation is urged call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
