An elderly man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after a residential fire in Springville Saturday night.
Crews were dispatched to the fire at around 11:30 pm. Upon arrival, they found the home fully involved, and a second alarm was immediately called.
Crews from Mapleton, Provo and Spanish Fork fire departments responded.
Six people, including a mother, father, two children and two adult males were all in the home when the fire started. They were able to evacuate the home before the structure was fully engulfed.
One elderly man was carried by emergency personelle to an ambulance before being transported to a local hospital. The extent of his injuries was not immediately available.
The two-alarm fire was fought until approximately 4:00 am. Early reports are that the fire may have started in the basement of the home, but the State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating on scene.
