WEST JORDAN, Utah — Three 13-year-old juveniles were transported to a local hospital after a joy ride ended in a crash in West Jordan.

According to Sgt. JC Holt with Wes Jordan Police, Friday morning, three juveniles took one of the children’s relatives BMW SUV and took it on a joy ride. The car was first spotted speeding east near 7000 S at 3200 W by a South Salt Lake officer on his way to work.

The vehicle lost control going through the intersection at 3200 W where it fishtailed and went over a curb, hitting some boulders leading to the car catching fire.

Two of the children made it out of the vehicle while first responders had to pull the last child out. The children suffered minor to serious injuries in the crash.

All three juveniles were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle could be charged with driving in a reckless manner and riving when they should have not.

The intersection had lanes closed for about an hour while crews cleaned up.
