LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah — Unified Police Department is searching for a suspect after a woman was attacked while walking a trail in Little Cottonwood Canyon Wednesday afternoon.
According to Melody Gray with UPD, the woman was hiking up Quarry Trail around 6:30 p.m. when she heard someone coming up behind her. The woman figured it was another runner using the trail so she moved over.
That person she assumed was a runner ended up hitting her with a stick, knocking her to the ground. The suspect then jumped on her and started to strangle her.
The woman was screaming which alerted other hikers. When the other people started to approach, the suspect fled into the woods. The victim suffered no physical injuries.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his late teens to early 20’s, about 6 feet tall and long brown hair.
