Utah sees 4 year downward trend in homeless population

Posted

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is seeing a four year downward trend in the number of people experiencing homelessness for the first time.

The state's annual report was just released, showing a 21% decrease since 2017.

There are also fewer people who have returned to homelessness.

But, the report shows people are spending more time in emergency shelters.

The Utah Office of Homeless Services says this shows the need for more affordable housing.
