SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah football team had zero positive COVID-19 cases for the second straight day, the school announced Sunday.
Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan made the announcement via Twitter.
"Two consecutive days of zero positive Covid tests within the football program so we are pushing ahead. We will continue to test everyday. Lets stay hopeful and all wear our masks as we fight this pandemic as one community, together."
Utah's season opening game scheduled for Saturday was canceled after the Utes reported numerous players had tested positive for COVID-19, leaving them without enough scholarship players available to take on Arizona.
The team's current situation has caused the Pac-12 Conference to delay the Utah-UCLA game by a day. The Utes and Bruins will now face off in Los Angeles on Saturday night at 8:30 in a game that can be seen on FOX 13.
