SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah — SR-201 has reopened after a 30-hour closure that resulted from Wednesday's 5.7 earthquake near Magna.

The earthquake, which occurred at 7:09 a.m., triggered the release of hydrochloric acid at Rio Tinto's nearby refinery.

"In line with standard procedures pre-agreed with the Utah Department of Transportation, State Road 201 has been temporarily closed while we complete an inspection of the tailings facility," a news release from Rio Tinto said.

The Utah Highway Patrol reports the road has reopened as of 1:49 p.m.
