MURRAY, Utah — West Valley City Police Department is conducting an investigation after a woman was shot by a Murray police officer Thursday afternoon.
According to Murray PD, the shooting occurred at the Stillwater Apartments located at 5560 Vine Street in Murray. An officer and another person were performing a welfare check on a woman when they arrived at the door, they heard a gunshot.
After hearing the gunshot, the officer went into the apartment, knowing the woman was armed and at one point shot the woman. What exactly happened is under investigation.
The woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt in the incident. The officer involved is on paid leave.
