SALT LAKE CITY — A motorist driving the wrong way on I-80 was killed after crashing head-on into a semi truck.
The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at milepost 56.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Nick Street said troopers were alerted to reports of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-80.
Before troopers could attempt to stop that vehicle, it crashed head-on with a semi.
The driver of the wrongway vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.
The name of the victim has not yet been released, and the investigation is still underway.
