WASHINGTON (AP) — The mother of a U.S. Navy veteran imprisoned in Iran is calling on the Tehran government to release her son immediately.
Joanne White says in an Associated Press interview that she's concerned for her son's well-being because of the coronavirus that's been blamed for dozens of deaths in Iran. She also wants the Trump administration to step up its pressure.
Michael White is serving a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted of insulting Iran's supreme leader and posting private information online.
Joanne White says her son was moved for a short period to a jail where a lawyer for another prisoner has reported a case of coronavirus.
