LARGO, Fla. — A man was arrested on domestic battery charges after throwing a pumpkin at his girlfriend.

Nathan Garisto, 26, was ordered to have no contact with the victim following the incident in the early morning hours on Monday, the Smoking Gun reports.

According to police in Pinellas County, Florida, Garisto was "heavily intoxicated while engaged in a verbal argument with his girlfriend" when she asked him to leave and he refused.

Following his refusal, Garisto threw the pumpkin at the victim.

When police arrived at the scene, the girlfriend was "covered in pumpkin seeds and pulp." Garisto told police he threw the pumpkin at the sliding doors and not at the victim.

Garisto pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges and was ordered to wear an alcohol monitor due to his past convictions for drunk driving and marijuana possession.
