LELAND, N.C. — One man's miserable day turned into his luckiest day in the span of a few hours.
Anthony Dowe was driving to work in North Carolina when he accidentally hit two deer with his new car.
Frustrated about the day's start, Dowe returned home and went back to sleep, WYFF reported.
Upon waking up from his morning nap, Dowe's day quickly became one he'll never forget thanks to the North Carolina Education Lottery.
“Then I woke up and checked my tickets. I checked the fourth ticket and I saw the ‘4’ and then the next number and the next number and the next number,” he said. “I’m like, ‘Wow!’ It was just crazy.”
Dowe's original $1 million prize was doubled when the 2x Megaplier ticket was pulled. In all, Dowe will take home about $1.4 million after taxes.
“It just feels great,” Dowe said. “I’m just gonna fix things on my mother and father’s house and get my car fixed, pay it off, and pay my niece’s car off.”
