The American Red Cross has partnered with the American Cancer Society to inspire people to help patients Give Blood to Give Time. Ben Donner, executive director of the Utah Red Cross Region shared with us that 1 in 3 people in the U.S will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. In 2020 alone, it is expected that more than 1.8 million cancer cases will be diagnosed.

Ben also said that many of these will require blood transfusions. People fighting cancer need nearly one-quarter of the nations blood supply; more than those fighting any other disease. There are not enough people donating regularly to meet the ongoing need.

Ben introduced us to Caden Erickson who had leukemia at 4 years old. Caden told us how crucial it was to receive a blood transfusion.

Find out if you can donate, and where, by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800 RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
