This year getting vaccinated is more important than ever especially as we approach flu season. Did you know that Last year only 40% of Utahns chose to receive a flu vaccination.

Flu immunization is an essential part of preventive care, which will help reduce the burden of influenza on the community, help flatten the curve of flu illnesses, protect essential workers from the flu, and save medical resources for those who need treatment for COVID-19.

Although we don't have a vaccine yet for COVID-19 let's not forget we already have a vaccine for the most common respiratory illness, the flu.

Dr. Aaron Starbuck with Wasatch Family Medicine explained that everyone age 6 months and older should be getting the flu shot.

This year with hospitals packed with people dealing with COVID-19, a respiratory illnesses it it so important to get the flu shot so you're not dealing with the flu, another respiratory illnesses at the same time. Doctors aren't sure how people may deal with both illnesses at the same time.

Most likely, the cost of your flu shot will be covered by your health insurance and flu shots are now available at healthcare providers, and most pharmacies.
