SALT LAKE CITY — The next winter storm hits Thursday night and will provide showers through Friday afternoon. This storm will bring slightly warmer air which will provide a mixture of rain and snow for the valleys and significant snow for the mountains. Thursday morning's commute will mainly bring snow and slushy roads. Snow accumulations will be more significant for the benches and canyon areas. Expected snow amounts for the valleys will be 1-4 inches. The Wasatch Back gets hit with 2-6 inches. Ogden Valley (Liberty, Eden, Huntsville) could see upwards of 8-16 inches. The mountains will see a range between 1-2 feet of snow. Friday morning's commute could see treacherous road conditions through the canyon passes. Avalanche risk will increase over the next two days.
