The former executive director of the Utah Democratic Party was honored Monday night.

Todd Taylor had the longest tenure of any executive party director in the country.  He lead the Utah Democratic Party for 20 years.

Taylor unexpectedly died in his sleep last week at the age of 46.

"It's with overwhelming grief that democrats and Utahns all over the state really are today making our final message to Todd Taylor," said Jim Dabakis, Utah Democratic Party Chairman.  Dabakis said Taylor was resilient, an optimist and a realist.

Taylor's official cause of death is unknown.

In lieu of flowers, the Taylor family requested contributions to a Todd Taylor Intern Scholarship Fund.
