Reuters news agency is reporting that Mexican troops have arrested two suspects in the killing of U.S. Border Patrol agent, and Provo native, Nicholas Ivie, who was shot dead early Tuesday.
A Mexican army officer told Reuters the two suspects were detained during a Mexican military operation in the city of Agua Prieta, located a few miles from the area where 30-year-old Ivie was shot dead.
A Mexican police officer across the border from the Arizona town of Naco confirmed the arrests, which occurred Wednesday morning.
Mexican security officials said Ivie was responding to a tripped ground sensor and the wounding of a second officer when he was killed.
