COALVILLE, Utah — Utah State Parks authorities confirmed a 27-year-old woman from Wanship died Saturday evening after her all-terrain vehicle rolled near a Coalville campground.
Utah State Parks and Recreation Lt. Eric Stucki said Alissa McCandless was a passenger in a side-by-side utility terrain vehicle while riding near Camperworld campground. He says the driver, 30-year-old Vance Robinson, apparently lost control and rolled the vehicle at about 6 p.m.
When Rockport State Park Rangers arrived at the scene, McCandless was pronounced dead.
Park rangers said Robinson was transported to University of Utah Medical Center with minor injuries.
Lt. Stucki said alcohol was found at the scene but they are still investigating to decide whether it was a factor in the accident.
Stucki said neither was wearing a seatbelt or helmet during the accident.
