SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah – Two men have been charged with starting the Dump Fire in Saratoga Springs earlier this year.
Kenneth Nielsen and Jeffery Conant, both of Washington state, were charged with misdemeanor reckless burning and use of a prohibited target. Prosecutors say they were shooting at an explosive target that ignited the 5,500-acre Dump Fire.
The Dump Fire forced hundreds to evacuate and cost nearly $2 million to put out.
Both men have been ordered to appear in court next month.
