ST. GEORGE — An investigation lasting several months has resulted in the arrest of a St. George man who is accused of distributing a marijuana substitute..

Kyle Max Best was booked into the Washington County Jail and faces a felony charge of distribution of spice.

The investigation began after the St. George Mayor and City Council received tips, some from concerned parents, that the drug was allegedly being sold and used at Mike’s Smoke Shop locations in St. George and Washington City.

Washington County Area Drug Task Force detectives bought spice from both stores on multiple occasions, according to a news release from the St. George Police Department.

Search warrants for both stores were served Friday and numerous pieces of evidence were seized, the news release said.

St. George police said spice is sometimes sold in small pouches or small clear containers as “aroma therapy” or under the product name “Reborn.”
