PRICE, Utah -- A man called Public Safety Dispatch in Price, Utah early Sunday morning and said he had shot his wife and intended to shoot himself; when police arrived the man was dead.
Personnel from the Price City Police Department, Carbon County Sheriff’s Department, Utah Highway Patrol and Helper Police responded to the scene, located at 600 West 300 South in Price, at 2:48 a.m., according to a press release from the Price City Police Department.
Capt. William Barnes of the Price City Police Department said four minor children were safely removed from the residence while officers attempted to make contact with the husband and wife.
“It became known that children were in the home,” he said. “Officers were able to communicate with the children inside via phone and were able to give them instructions and get them safely out of the home.”
A SWAT team entered the residence and found two people dead: 37-year-old David Scott Donaldson and 32-year-old Shaniel Kaye Donaldson. The two were the victims of an apparent murder-suicide.
The Price City Police Department and the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the incident.
The children removed from the home were not injured, and they are in the care of family members.
