CEDAR CITY, Utah – A man is dead, a woman is injured and a person of interest is in custody after a shooting in Cedar City on Friday afternoon.
Cedar City Police officers responded to a call regarding a suicidal person at about 2 p.m. on Friday, according to a press release from the Cedar City Police Department.
When officers arrived they found a man, 52-year-old Thad Robertson, outside the home. They discovered a deceased male inside who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. There was also an adult female in the home who had apparently suffered a gunshot wound as well.
The female was treated locally and then airlifted to the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. She is currently listed as being in critical condition.
Police detained Robertson as a person of interest. He was later charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a deadly weapon by a restricted person, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the press release.
The police are continuing to investigate the incident, which is being classified as a homicide. Police have listed Robertson is a person of interest in the incident.
The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification of family.
