SUV driver charged in death of cyclist

PROVO, Utah – A woman has been charged with negligent homicide after police say she hit a cyclist, sending him in the path of a FrontRunner train last Friday.

Police say Maria Fregoso-Avina, 49, had frost covering the windshield of her SUV when she hit Douglas Crow, 69, who was riding his bike near 600 South and 700 West.

Douglas was propelled into the path of a FrontRunner train. He was taken to Utah Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Fregoso-Avina was charged with negligent homicide, improper lookout and driving with an obstructed windshield.
