SALT LAKE CITY – A former University of Utah football player is facing domestic abuse charges.
Koli Niasi Mona Leota was arrested this week, accused of beating his wife. The probable cause statement says that on Sunday, Leota punched his wife in the face, hit her in the head with a curling iron then attempted to strangle her with the cord of the curling iron.
Leota, who was a senior at the U, has reportedly been dismissed from the football program.
