TOOELE COUNTY, Utah – Two people were injured and two horses were killed after a vehicle struck the horses on State Route 36 on Friday night.
Two horses had gotten out of a corral near southbound SR 36 southbound and made their way onto the highway shortly after 10 p.m. The passenger-side of the vehicle made impact with the two horses, according to a press release from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The vehicle was occupied by two people. An elderly woman riding on the passenger side suffered several lacerations. Due to her age she was flown by medical helicopter to a nearby trauma center. The man driving the car was taken to a nearby hospital via ambulance. Their condition of both are unknown.
SR 36 was closed in both directions for about an hour.
