BRIGHAM CITY, Utah – A woman was killed and her three grandchildren injured after being hit by a car in Brigham City on Thursday afternoon.
Brigham City Police Lt. Mike Nelson says that just before 3 p.m., a northbound car driven by an 87-year-old woman turned left in front of another car near Main Street and 700 South and the two vehicles collided, causing one vehicle to leave the roadway.
That vehicle hit 59-year-old Debra Mercer and her three grandchildren, who were walking on the sidewalk on 700 South.
Mercer died from her injuries. The three grandchildren, a 7-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy and a 2-year-old boy, were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident is still under investigation.
