SALT LAKE CITY - Several hundred people gathered at Abravanel Hall to take their oath of U.S. citizenship.
400 people became official United States citizens on Monday morning after taking an oath of citizenship.
"I get kind of emotional every ceremony even though I've done it several times," said Jeanne Kent with the U.S. Department of Naturalization and Immigration. "It's the best job in the world. When I help people become US citizens it reminds me of my own heritage and my family coming to the united states and it renews my faith in the government."
To become a U.S. citizen, a person must live legally in the country for five years, comply with a series of requirements and pass a civics test.
