SANDY, Utah -- Police are searching for two people in connection with an incident involving assault, robbery and gunfire at a Sandy hotel Thursday morning.
Police responded to the Extended Stay America hotel, 7555 S Union Bark Blvd., shortly after 5 a.m. after receiving a report of shots fired.
The victim told police she went to the hotel to meet up with one of the suspects. After knocking on his door, the victim was dragged inside the room by the suspect and another woman, police said.
Lt. Victor Quezada, Sandy PD, said the female suspect fired a shot near the victim's head. The victim then ran out of the room, as did both suspects, who got in a truck and started to flee.
The victim jumped into the back of the truck in an attempt to retrieve a cellphone and purse she said the suspects had taken.
"The female then takes two more shots at the victim from inside the truck. She rides in the truck for a short distance later and jumps out at that time," Quezada said.
At some point during the ordeal, the victim was punched in the mouth and sustained abrasion injuries, Quezada said.
No one was hit by the shots that were fired.
Police said they're fairly certain they know who the male suspect is. The female suspect was described as Polynesian, approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall and 125 pounds.
The suspects' vehicle is a white Ford F-150 pickup with an Ohio license plate marked PHR1438 and a silver toolbox in the back.
